Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my book adventures and life as a mom. Hope you have a nice stay!

Spic and Span

I wrote Melissa Roske to ask if I could review her book. My request was really based on the cover. She wrote me back explaining that her book was for older kids and it dealt with some issues, that the picture books I usually blog about don't cover. I told her I was still interested and wanted to start incorporating some chapter books. She sent me a signed copy, with a bookmark! A bookmark may seem like a small thing to some, but when you no longer fold corners it is exciting.

There are certain books that you just connect to. Kat Greene Comes Clean stuck to me. I was so into it, that I just kept reading into the acknowledgements. Kat is the main character of course, growing up in New York. Her parents are divorced and she lives with her Mom. Her mom has a bit of a cleaning problem, which Kat later discovers is full blown OCD. Not only is she dealing with that, but her best friend has created a cyclone of boy drama. All of the characters in this book are so relatable. You wind up rooting for each one of them.

This book is fantastic even if you don't have any of the issues covered. I have been through a divorce, so I completely sympathize with the mother. This copy will be saved for my daughter, because she will relate to Kat. If you know any families dealing with OCD, this book would help so much! It opens up doors for conversations on all family issues. I sincerely hope there will be a book 2!
