Over The Moon
I've become quite the Harry Moon fan. The Author and Creator of the Harry Moon series, Mark Andrew Poe, wrote to me on Instagram. He sent a copy of Wand - Paper - Scissors that releases on August 15. I was very excited to receive a chapter book, since I have been reading ALOT of picture books lately. There are so many wonderful qualities this series possesses.
As soon as you open the book there is a full color map of the town. I have always been one of those readers that finds themselves completely enveloped by a story. The map is for those types of readers that find themselves wandering the town of Sleepy Hollow in their mind. Next, there is a section with character descriptions. I think this is a nice touch for a series to have. In case you are jumping into the series, you are introduced to each character. The illustrations by Christina Weidman are adorable. It is great for a chapter book to have pictures for the younger crowd.
This series is exactly what I as a parent would want my child to be reading. This book has all of the magic and excitement, with the underlying values kids need to learn. Harry learns real magic, but it can only be used for good. He overcomes the bullying he is facing with his bravery and a little help from a magic rabbit. The Moon family is just the type of family you want to read more about. They are quirky and fun. It is no wonder that Honey Moon, Harry's sister has her own line of books also.
